Swiss boarding schools : Le Régent in Crans-Montana
Every year, families from all over the world put their trust in Swiss School Consulting to offer their children the best possible opportunity for a successful education in Switzerland.
Dubai, Jakarta, Madrid, Athens, Paris, these are just a few examples of where our families come from, and they all appreciate the personalised relationship we offer them and the privileged contacts we have with a large network of Swiss private schools, which we make available to them.
Nothing would be possible without close collaboration with our partners, the Swiss private schools, and today we begin a non-exhaustive series of presentations of some of the schools with which Swiss School Consulting has the privilege of collaborating.
LE RÉGENT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Founded in 2015, Le Régent is a dynamic and fast-growing Swiss boarding and day school with an international academic programme. Approximately 250 students from Switzerland and around the world are educated in a modern campus in the heart of the Valais Alps in the stunning winter and summer resort of Crans-Montana.
Academics at Le Régent International School
Le Régent is committed to character education and demanding educational principles. Class sizes are small and language options are strong. Le Régent follows a rigorous academic programme in English in preparation for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and the Régent Graduation Diploma (RGD). In addition to academics, we nurture each student’s unique talents through diverse extracurricular programmes, including sports, arts, music and mountain activities. Understanding who our students are today is paramount but equally important is empowering them to envision their future selves and their potential to impact the world around them positively.
Junior Section: Kindergarten to Grade 5 / 5-10 Year
Our Junior Section is a warm, welcoming hub of creativity and learning that welcomes pre-kindergarten children from as young as four years old. Within a specially designed environment conducive to learning through play and collaboration, students of all ages follow a programme based on the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) combined with Le Régent’s comprehensive curricular programme that ensures learning progression.
Lower Secondary Section: Grades 6 to 8 / 11-13 Year
In Grades 6 to 8, the academic programme is informed by the concept-based International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) and builds on the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). As well as developing knowledge, skills and understanding across all subjects, the IMYC themes enable learning across subjects to become more connected and meaningful. All subjects are taught by specialist teachers and all our languages are taught by native speakers.
Upper Secondary Section: Grades 9 and 10 / 13-15 Year
In Grades 9 and 10, our focus is to lay the foundational groundwork for student success in preparation for the challenging IB Diploma Programme. This advanced curriculum represents a more rigorous and detailed course of study compared to the lower secondary section, with a heightened emphasis on regular progress scrutiny. Our objective is to instil in students the skills to learn effectively and take ownership of their educational journey, recognising that this transition may be initially challenging for some.
Senior Section: Ib1 & Ib2 / 16-18 Year
– The IB Diploma Programme is a holistic educational programme recognised by all major universities and employers throughout the world. It encourages students to develop skills and knowledge as learners, and it promotes intercultural understanding and respect. International mindedness is central to our school’s approach to teaching and learning. The holistic nature of the IB Diploma is complemented by our Co-curricular and Outdoor Education Programme.
– Le Régent offers students the possibility to complete the Régent Graduation Diploma, a parallel course that may be suitable for those who wish to focus on a particular area of specialism, in addition to their academic studies.
The Spirit of Boarding at Le Régent International School
Le Régent believes excellent pastoral support for our students is at the heart of everything we do. Pastoral and Academic teams work hand in hand to support students’ wellbeing and development. Together, they cultivate a nurturing environment characterised by warmth, unwavering support, and encouragement. At Le Régent, we prioritise firmness over formality, trust over accountability, and personal responsibility over procedures. This approach fosters a strong sense of community, empowering our students to take ownership of their actions and decisions. This environment allows our students to thrive academically, socially and personally. Within this close-knit community, boarders are encouraged to explore their passions, develop their talents, and build lifelong connections with peers and educators.
This shared commitment to student wellbeing and development lies at the heart of our mission.
Le Régent is an Eco-School, a CIS member, and an official examination centre for the IB Diploma Programme, DELF, SATs, IELTS and Edexcel IGCSEs.
A Sister School of Le Rosey
Le Régent and Le Rosey began their close collaboration in 2019, which led to the creation of the Rosey World, a Commonwealth of three schools promoting and supporting excellence in education. Le Rosey in Rolle and Gstaad, Le Régent International School in Crans and John F. Kennedy School in Saanen offer visions for the future of education, development programmes, and joint promotion in a cohesive and supporting spirit.
Although each school prides itself on having a distinct identity, the sister schools share the same vision of a holistic education aimed at developing all talents and igniting a passion for life. Admissions standards are identical and the procedure is common for Rosey and Régent.
