Each year, the Schools Index by Carfax Education showcases a global selection of top-tier private schools known for their academic strength and student-centered values. In the 2025 edition, Switzerland stands out once again, with 10 prestigious Swiss schools featured — a reflection of the country’s strong reputation in international education.

What is the Schools Index?

Launched in 2020, the Schools Index by Carfax Education is now a trusted reference for families around the world seeking top-tier private education. Each edition of the index presents a curated selection of outstanding international private schools, based on a qualitative review rather than numerical ranking. The 2025 edition marks its fifth year and was released, as in previous years, between March and June.

Unlike traditional academic rankings, the Schools Index does not assign a numerical position (there’s no 1st, 2nd, or 10th). Instead, it features a Global Main List of 125 schools, complemented by Top 10 regional lists by country or region. Each country included in the index has 10 selected schools that represent the best of its private education landscape.

Schools are selected based on multiple criteria:
